Ask McConnell is available for AMA sessions or full consulting support as your program grows and evolves. We encourage teams to develop strong governance using clear policies and measurable metrics across the entire organization. This creates a solid foundation for a mature converged security and safety program.

It’s also important to invest in a training program that reaches all levels—employees, security staff, executives, and vendors. Everyone should understand the key elements of governance and why they matter. Strong training ensures the whole organization moves in the same direction with shared goals.

SMB Security Self-Assessment

When I talk to corporations around the country, the topic of what is scope of “security” is a challenge.  There are many amazing servants, resources on this topic and I am far from THE expert in every one of these areas.  Understanding first that “security” is very different than “safety” is key. Next is what are all the elements of “security”.  This doesn’t mean your corporation is at high risk if you don’t do some of these, but at a minimum, they should be part of the regular prioritization discussions in your team/board members.    This self-assessment is a simple tool to use by your security team, to senior leadership and board to see if everyone is “on the same page”
